MFA Annual BBQ

The annual BBQ get together of the filipino association was held at Teston Park this year. Barbecue food which included chicken, fish and pork was served; along with other food and drinks brought in by everyone.

It was definitely risky to wear my new Nike shoes, but I thought it went well with the shorts I bought from Zara so I just went for it. I didn't want to ruin my new shoes therefore I made sure I brought a different pair for when we run around and play games. I have been waiting for the day that I could wear my daisy, fringed kimono and so I decided to use it today. However, as per usual, the weather was too humid to layer up so I spent the whole day without it. And of course, due to the fact that I was appointed to the white team, I wore a loose, thin, white shirt  which I purchased from Zara yesterday.

Before the event, we were all put into the white or red team for some friendly competition. Our friendship group was split in half and this has made everything a lot more interesting. Everyone's competitiveness was shown through the yelling, backtalk and maybe, a little cheating. ;) All in all, everybody were all good sports, no friendship was harmed and we all had a blast.

The games consisted of many varieties. It started off with the good ol 'Spoon and Egg' race and moved on to some sort of balloon popping race. The teens coached and supported the little kiddos during their race. Sadly, the sack race didn't make an appearance this year. The teens also played kickball and dodge ball which was definitely fun. Towards the end, we played a game of football despite the humid weather. Everyone, including the mum and dads were good sport and participated in the games.

The day would not have been as fun without my friends. Nothing better than a chilled day out in the sun, playing a bit of ukulele and a little friendly competition.

After such a tiring day of running around playing games such as football, dodgeball and kickball, it was nice to have a long, cold shower, eat a slice of cake from Patisserie Valerie and just blog about my day.

Nike Air Max 1 iD Shoe

After weeks of waiting, my Nike iDs have finally arrived.

I have always wanted some casual trainers but I was always skeptical on what to actually buy. After I've finished my A-Level exams on June 2014, my dad offered to get me a "Yay you've finished school!" present. Since he knew I've been wanting shoes, he told me to pick out whatever I wanted. At first, I looked at the local shops however I didn't find anything I liked. So I began searching online and came across nike.com in the iDs section. I've always looked at the Air Max 1s but there was never any of the colour I wanted in the stores. With the Nike iDs, I could customise the colours of the shoe so I thought this would be the best option. As my parents would say, "If you're going to invest on something, invest on some good shoes, coat and bags."

With Kanye West's 'Red Octobers' and Christian Louboutins as inspiration, I knew I wanted an all red pair of shoes, or at least most of it to be red. Due to the fact that I envy those who actually own red soles, I made sure that my Nike iDs had a red sole. I thought it'd be one step closer to Louboutins ahah! Oh and of course because my favourite colour is red.

And so I began changing the colour and material of the shoe in the website. I've chosen the colour 'University Red' instead of 'Geranium' because the geranium colour had a slight pink tint to it and I wanted my shoe to be as red as possible. Every part is Synthetic Leather except the base as I didn't want the shoe to have creases by the toes the more I wear it. The colour of the midsole couldn't be changed therefore I've just put the red speckles. I was so happy that i could change the actual sole to the red. yay! I've kept the logo white as a nice contrast to the red and I didn't bother putting my name on the back or anything like that. I have also bought gold aglets from ebay to mimic the laces of the 'Red Octobers'.

This was definitely my favourite part; seeing the process of my shoes. Every email just got me very excited for them. I ordered the shoes on 04.07.14 and it was estimated to arrive the next month however it came earlier [today, 23.07.14] and I couldn't be more happy.

London Barrio Fiesta

Despite the thunderstorm that was supposed to happen in the afternoon, 6 of my friends and I still carried on and went to London Barrio Fiesta. It was my first time going therefore I had no idea what to expect. My intention was to at least see Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo as I have enjoyed watching their show, 'Got to Believe' and of course eat filipino food.

The whole day was fun mostly due to the fact it was spent with such great company.
When we got to Barrio, the first thing we approached was the food area. For the first time in months, I ate my favourite, Tender Juicy Hotdogs, and of course I made Hannah and Charlotte taste them and they really liked it. I then bought my mother some salty eggs and myself some roasted peanuts.

After we ate, there was nothing much we could do so we decided to hit up the rides and games. The sun started to beam and the heat began to rise.

With the sun beaming, I thought it would be a great time to take an ootd haha! Because of the weather forecast saying that there's a chance it's going to thunderstorm in the afternoon, I was skeptical to whether to wear shorts or not. However, I was hopeful that the temperature will be hot and that the sun would come out, and it did. YAY!

-Aleena and I-
Leena and I didn't just want to sit there and stare at the others as they went on the rides we didn't want to go to. So we decided to play on the dance machine thing which wasn't such a great idea because it left us all sweaty. But, it was fun and we had a good ol laugh.

After checking out the rides and games and all that jazz, we sat down on the field to soak in the sun. But of course, the asians, except me, didn't want to tan so instead, they put up the umbrella to hide in the shade. At this moment, we sat and waited for the acts to come on.

However, there was a no show of the people I wanted to see. It was already about 3pm, no one was on stage, it was hot with no wind and we all wanted to go around London, so we left.
Don't get me wrong, this was our plan in the first place, to go to Barrio for a bit, eat filipino food, and then go to Stratford and China Town for dinner.

-Charlotte, Hannah, Me, Aleena-
We ended our day out in China town as we ate a buffet for dinner.
Fair to say I was pretty disappointed that I didn't get to see Daniel and Kathryn and meet up with my childhood friend, Vanda. However, the whole day was just so carefree. Despite the heat and humidity, there were no stress, no drama, and it was just such a fun day out. A day like yesterday should definitely happen again.

Prom 2014

-Leeds Castle at night-
Located in one of the most beautiful castle in England held my end of school prom. After 7 long years in SSSCS, it came to a conclusion as we all gathered in a beautiful venue, dressed in our best.
-Noella, Gellina, Me, Lora, Hannah, Charlotte-
This beautiful and elegant night was spent with 5 of the best friends I have ever had. Even through ups and downs, I know I can rely on these girls. The night would not have been as much fun without my besties. [hah so cheesy].

-ootn: dress|Coast £95, clutch|TKMaxx £12.99, earrings|Oasis £3-
-shoes|Kurt Geiger Carvela £100-
Finding a dress to wear became such a task. My mother and I researched every possible websites to find the perfect dress. We eventually settled for the Coast dress that we found on House of Fraser during their mid-season sales due to the lovely blush colour and the price drop from £195 to £95. The dress arrived only weeks before the day and it was the perfect fit.
I was most excited to wear my Carvela shoes again. The last time I wore these was during my 18th debut birthday party and they were by far one of the most comfortable stilettos I own.

-A tad of rosé to add a bit of class-
My friend Hannah and I were given the task to sort out the table decorations with a £90 budget. We decided on the good ol candle in the jar, on top of red stones, on a metallic plate. Instead of the traditional confetti we found crystals for only £1 and white rose petals for £1. We have also distributed party poppers for each individual with the customised label fit for the occasion. Overall, the look was sophisticated yet simple and we were very proud of it. :)

To end the night, we went to a club and danced the night away.

It was certainly one of the best nights I have ever had. One I know I will remember when I'm old and grey.
